Ingredients

  • 8 oz flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tbsp coconut aminos
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare all ingredients before cooking. Slice the flank steak thinly against the grain, mince the garlic, grate the fresh ginger, and cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets if not already done.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the coconut aminos, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and sea salt. Stir well to make the stir fry sauce and set aside.
  3. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the avocado oil and let it warm for about 30 seconds.
  4. Add the sliced steak to the skillet in a single layer. Sear undisturbed for 1–2 minutes, then stir-fry for another 1–2 minutes until browned and just cooked through. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add the broccoli florets. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until bright green and just tender. If needed, add 1–2 tablespoons of water to help steam and soften the broccoli.
  6. Reduce the heat to medium and return the cooked steak to the skillet with the broccoli.
  7. Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and broccoli. Stir well to coat everything evenly. Cook for another 1–2 minutes, allowing the sauce to heat through and slightly thicken.
  8. Remove from heat and serve hot. Enjoy your paleo-friendly beef and broccoli stir fry immediately.

Storage Instructions

Store any leftover beef and broccoli stir fry in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. For longer storage, transfer the cooled dish to a freezer-safe container and freeze for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.

Reheating Instructions

For best texture and flavor, reheat the stir fry in a skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally until warmed through. You can add a splash of water or additional coconut aminos to help loosen the sauce as it reheats. Alternatively, microwave on high in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until hot throughout.

Ingredient Swaps & Additions

To boost the protein and micronutrient content while keeping the recipe paleo-friendly, consider adding sliced mushrooms, bell peppers, or snap peas. These vegetables enhance fiber intake and add a variety of vitamins and antioxidants. For extra protein, toss in a handful of cashews or top the dish with a fried egg. If you want a bit more richness, a spoonful of almond butter stirred into the sauce adds healthy fats and a creamy texture. All of these additions align with a paleo approach and can enhance the flavor complexity of the dish.
